The Crucible – Persecution Essay The Crucible was a play based during the events of the Salem Witch Trials. Many people we persecuted and killed due to others personal gain, fear for what might happen to them, others wanting revenge, and many died to maintain their pride.

Over the course of the play, Persecution almost always was a result of greed.
