A well known issue that we face today is police brutality. I can say without a doubt that there is a wholesome amount of paranoia in society. The ideology of being a police officer is someone who enforces the law and focuses on protecting people and property. Yet recent events such as the Robert Davis case in 2005 have lead people to believe that police officers are deficient and have unjustified power. It sways people to think that there is not enough training and unchecked power. Even though this is widely believed, society has to come to an understanding that not all police are good or bad and the fear of bad cops have clouded people's judgment and trust. In The Crucible the event known as the Salem witch trials is similar to police brutality because generalizations are made about different groups of people. He was a man who visited New Orleans after hurricane Katrina to check on some tenants. He went up to a police officer and asked about curfew. Another police officer cut him off and told him to leave. Robert Davis walked away and said the officer should show some respect. Then the officer went up to him and beaten him. Three officers beat him while another one confronted a man who was videotaping the entire event. That man was also beaten even though he had a license. In court, the officers claimed that Robert Davis was publicly intoxicated yet he claimed that he was not. This is one example that gave police officers a bad name. Yet here is an example of a good police officer. On September 22, 2016 during a rally, police had to set up a barricade. One man was going around hugging the officers stating that not all policemen are bad. This caused the crowd to be outraged, but it demonstrated how the majority of people see all cops are bad due to incidents like Robert
