As an Afro-Caribbean, first-generation immigrant, I have experienced various forms of racism and the roadblocks which have been put in place to ensure that I do not succeed. One particular experience was during my senior year of high school. I was part of an elite number of students enrolled in the IB program, we had special meetings with Ivy League ambassadors to educate us on the application process and the admissions requirements.
