My theme is Reputation. Reputation is the estimation in which a person or thing is held especially by the community or the public generally. The origin of the word Reputation comes from latin reputationem. Reputation can be both negative and positive because if something you do that is wrong other people will look at you differently and start to say bad things behind your back and will ruin a lot of the relationships that you have with people. The way it can be positive is when you do something good that you will be recognized for and people will most likely start treating you with respect and some people will look up to and support
While Parris is talking to Abigail he asks her about what happened in the woods on page 11 Parris says “ Abigail, I have fought here three long years to bend these stiff-necked people to me, and now, just now when some good respect is rising for me in the parish, you compromise my very character. Let her turn you like a -” Abigail is talking to Proctor about Elizabeth and how she is ruining her name in the village and how Elizabeth had kicked Abigail out and is still with proctor. Abigail had brought up Elizabeth who had kicked her out after she knowing about the affair that Proctor and Abigail have had together and kicking Abigail out prevented Abigail from being with Proctor.
