Throughout The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn there are clearly seen superstition in this book. Most of the superstitions are bad luck but there is also karma, good luck, witches, and just plain ole weird things that Huck Finn and Jim think are a superstition’s. The first sign that Huck finn thinks is superstition is when the spider is crawling upon his shoulder and he flicks it off and it lands in the candle and dies “Pretty soon a spider went crawling up my shoulder, and I flipped it off and it lit in the candle; and before I could budge it was all shriveled up. I didn't need anybody to tell me that that was an awful bad sign and would fetch me some bad luck” (Chapter 1 quote from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn) he believes that this is bad luck but Huck does not go on and on about it like Jim, Jim thinks that it will haunt you for the rest of your life.
