Teen Activism
What is teen activism? It is when a teen sees a problem in the world and actively tries to fix it. If teen activists have challenges, they overcome them by working until they make it right. Being a teen activist is not easy, because you have to be determined, influential, persistent, and ready for anything, even being shot in the head if it means the problem will be put right. Malala Yousafzai, Craig Kielburger, and Alex Libby are all examples of teen activists, and they all are making differences in the world. Malala Yousafzai is known worldwide for her bravery when she was shot by the Taliban. She won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize and was the youngest person to ever receive it. Because of her school closing, her life started to fall apart. Her only solution was to speak out, and she stood alone with her dad. It happens all over the world. One person who experienced bullying is Alex Libby. Alex Libby is a 17 year old boy who was a victim of bullying. He was getting threats everyday and getting bullied to the point that he and his family moved to a different town. He was in a documentary called “Bully” that changed his life forever. He is now involved in a program called “Stand for the Silent”, a program made by the parents of another kid in the movie, “Bully”. Alex is helping kids everyday prevent bullying and stand up for those who chose to be silent. Teen activists are people that are changing the world, one step at a time. Some of the many activists in the world are Malala, Craig, and Alex, and they all want to see a difference in the world. These people impacts everyone’s life by encouraging people to be an activist just like them. “When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful.” - Malala
