I completed my toddler observation in the same center as well. The class that I completed my observation in had a mixture of two and early three’s in it. The day that I completed my observation there were two teachers present and 13 children in the room. The ratio is one teacher for every 9 children so this means that they were in ratio. The children in the classroom were obviously very different from the children in the infant classroom because of their age difference and personalities. I noticed that in this classroom the children would play more with one another and were beginning to have best friends. The children would offer to help one another when making something (for ex. A castle made out of blocks) and would also help or tell on another child that hurt their friends. Although the children are more social and kind with one another, there were also moments when the children would get into fights over toys. The other children who weren’t involved tend to tell the teachers that the two people were fighting or would try to help their friends. The teachers did meet the needs of the children consistently. One teacher was down on the floor with the children most of the time and the other was up and about watching the children that weren’t with the one teacher. Since there were some two year olds in there, the teachers still had to change a few diapers. Every so often they would go around checking diapers to make sure that the children were dry. Additionally, they would also get down to talk the children and offer them hugs when they said that they missed their mommy or daddy and would tell them that they would be there
