Yesterday, February 19, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order No. 9066 which authorizes the military to use their broad power in the act of internment of all Japanese Americans on the West Coast. (HistoryMatters) President Roosevelt enabled the direct Secretary of War and Military Commanders with the assistance from all executive departments in the operation of investigating potential traders and relocating all Japanese Americans [on the West Coast] to their assigned internment camp. Henry L. Stimson, the Secretary of War, and President Roosevelt set plans to start relocation in March, so the Japanese should start packing. When Pearl Harbor, the naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii was attacked by Japanese fighter planes, and soon after President Roosevelt declared war on Japan there has been many Japanese people that were investigated due to suspicions and rumors about espionage and sabotaging the national defense material. (HistoryMatters) President Rosevelt ordered these measures to be taken so that the safety of the people and their place in World War II is superior. Executive Order Number 9066 is authorization of military forces to use what is deemed necessary to relocate all Japanese Americans to remote interment camps and turn the West Coast into military area. (hirstory.com) Furthermore, it allows all independent establishments, Executive departments, and other Federal Agencies to assist the military forces in the internment of Japanese Americans. The Secretary of War and direct Military commanders have been entitled the act of making sure all Japanese Americans are moved to their correct internment camp with or without their
