The sun shown down like a blazing fire storm. Her skin looked as if she’d been kissed by the sun. She was a golden tan that every girl wanted to achieve. Her hair was a shade of blonde that was best described as the same color as the whitest sand on a hot beach in the summer. Her eyes were as blue as the clearest and deepest ocean. She was thin but fit. She was what all the other girls wanted to be and who all the boys wanted to be with. But behind closed doors, no one knew the pain of being Hilary Blake. Her mother died when she was ten, and in the past seven years, her father has succumbed to a drinking problem. He was trying to beat the resemblance of his wife off of Hilary’s face. He had put her in the hospital many times. “Oh no, I’m fine. I just fell.” “I got jumped on the way home from school by that new gang that’s been hanging around”. Just a few of what people would hear from Hilary regarding her trips to the emergency rooms. She covered it up well for her father’s sake, she knew he wouldn’t make it if Hilary left or was taken away from him too. So she sat through the drunken fits, the screamings, the beatings, and did her best to still be what everyone saw her as, perfection. She had perfect grades, perfect physical appearance, perfect personality, perfect boyfriend, and perfect friends. So while everyone thought her life was perfect, no one knew she was slowly being beaten to death. Until they had heard the news, she was dead. Her dad had taken it way too far this time and had beaten the life out of her. No one knew the problems she dealt with till it was all brought to light that she had passed on.
