Conclusion:

The purpose of this experiment is to become familiar with the separation of mixtures of solids. I could learn how to separate mixtures using techniques based on the chemical properties of a substance.

Iron filings could be removed by the magnet for its properties to be attracted to a magnet. The sand also could be separated from benzoic acid and table salt by using its insolubility in water. Both of benzoic acid and table salt are soluble in water, and could be separated by using their different freezing points.

To get the accurate result and reduce errors, it was crucial that the mixture should be dissolved completely in water on the each melting points and the filter paper containing the…
