Entering the chamber through a darkened corridor, you come to the first of four golden statues. The standing figure is the the first Buddha of the current kalpa (aeon). There is a nine-metre tall saga wood statue that is also considered the southern statue. You then circle clockwise around the niche-lined corridors, there are carved images that explain the progression from Bodhisattva to Buddha.
In the interior there are parts of frescoes that show stories of The Buddha’s life.
On the northern doorway there are carved doorframes from the reign of the bellicose King Bayinnaung the Great, third king of the Taungoo Dynasty.
