I desire to become an Elite Pirate because I seek to give back to the university that has helped me grow in areas such as leadership and personal development. My active membership in the Greek community solidified the foundations of leadership by teaching me that an individual can achieve anything with hard work, careful planning, and motivation to make a difference. Through the mentorship of the Vice President of Membership and former Elite Pirate, Michael Sayonh, I was able to successfully uphold the responsibilities and expectations as the 2015-2016 Sigma Tau Gamma Vice President of Membership. His teachings of professionalism, and personal experiences helped me strive to continue the traditions of a successful recruitment process. Having two years server experience, one thing that I learned is much more work is accomplished when everyone in the group comes together seeking a common goal. At Olive Garden, my server team’s goal was to achieve high customer satisfaction. My goal as an Elite Pirate is to show East Carolina University that no matter what background, organization affiliation, or previous life experiences, we would work together to give back to the community through civic engagement and philanthropy. Another contribution I could make to the group is spreading awareness of the organization and everything we contribute to the university. To do this, I would like to plan a relations program each semester called the “Pirate to Pirate Meet and Greet.” This program would help establish relationships with our student peers and faculty interested in learning more about what we do, as well share our ideas and passion to keep moving ECU forward as a premiere
