According to the article, “Child Labor: An Overview”, from the website International Initiative on Exploitative Child Labor (IIECL) “over 211 million children between the ages of five and fourteen are employed in some form of wages worldwide”. Child labor is the employment of kids under the age determined by the law that interferes in their childhood and attending of school regularly.
The employment of children is a very controversial topic around the world. For many people, they see child labor as a good opportunity for poor children to have a better future. (Cite book) The same happens in the relationship between adults and children. Children are beings in mental and physical development, so adults are the ones who have power over them. Adults decide for them what to do, when to do, and how to do. Like a country they live in a system of hierarchy where adults are the ones who decide (government=power) and children are the ones who obey. In Child Labor, we can also identify this inequality. Because children are children, they don’t have freedom to speak for themselves, freedom to decide what kind of job they want to do, how much they want to earn and in which conditions they want to work. Therefore, we have to analyze child labor in rich countries (Most Industrialized Nations) and poor countries (Least industrialized nation). One fact that leads to Child Labor is Lack of education. Typically, in rich countries children have better education, they learn that their primary objective is to study and with education they can succeed in life. The government has a better notion that children are the future, so they invest more in them. However, in poor nations the struggle for money is higher and the few they earn it is used to feed the family.
