The book my group read was Doll Bones by Holly Black. The book is about three Kids named Alice, Poppy, and Zach, who like to play games with their dolls. One of them is a bone china doll they named the queen. Poppy has a nightmare about a ghost named Eleanor Kerchner saying that she is the queen and that they need to bury the doll in her grave. They end up going on an adventure to East Liverpool, Ohio and find that the girl is actually real and they find her grave and bury the doll. The characters of Alice, Zach, and Poppy grow throughout the story by becoming more independent and resolving tough issues through the external and internal forces of their minds and the outside world.

Alice has changed through external and internal forces in many ways. One way is that even through her own doubt she stuck with the group through thick and thin. She fought with poppy, but they both grew through internal strength. They became friends again by the end of the book (at least it was implied). She also grew through external forces because all of the things the Queen were doing like hiding and destroying their campsite. Alice grew at that point by becoming more motivated to finish the quest. This is how Alice Changed throughout the story because of internal and external forces.
