The last four years of my life have been spent on a small dairy farm 30 minutes south of our state capitol called Lyon Farm LLC. I have woke up at five in the morning to milk the cows and stayed awake until ten at night to finish feeding the calves. When I began my journey, I was an unreliable 14 year old who thought that the world revolved around me. I never could have foretold that cows, fields, and tractors would change who I was. After my first year or so working on the farm, I knew what I wanted to do with my life after high school; I would become a large animal vet. As of November 10th, I have been accepted to Central Michigan University and have submitted my admittance fee. After graduating CMU, I plan on attending MSU to study at their …show more content…
I have been school-of-choice at Springport High School since freshman year, this has led to some difficulties with rides to events but I always make it to FFA sanctioned rescue centers as well as with my FFA chapter. The center where I have done the most community service is Wildside Animal Rehabilitation Center, the second most time was spent at the Eaton County Humane Society. Both of these places are non-profit and rely solely on events, for this reason, I have won many awards at both the state and chapter level. My state level awards are; Bronze Dairy Placement Proficiency(2017), State Degree(2017), Gold Academic Excellence(2017), 1st place State FFA Science Fair(2016), Silver Goat Production Proficiency(2016), Outstanding Junior(2016). My chapter level awards are; Star Greenhand(2014) and Academic Excellence(2016). I am proud of my accomplishments from the past few years because I have struggled much throughout the process of attaining them. My struggles have shaped who I am as a person as well as who I am as a worker. Being a child of divorced parents has not helped me financially prepare for college so I am looking to scholarships and grants to help me succeed as a student and become a Large Animal Veterinarian in eight
