I believe I can contribute a plethora of qualities to FIU, but the most impactful things I can contribute are genuine compassion, integrity, my commitment to service and determination. In people genuine compassion is hard to find, I have been through many situations that taught me that everyone deserves unconditional compassion. Since an extremely young age compassion has been a self-evident trait of mine. I have always felt compelled to be compassionate towards others because it is my nature and I find it is the humane thing to do. In college, things may become surreal, but having unconditional compassion to others situations, you can help someone that has had the worst experiences overcome it all. People with whom you interact with will know that they can rely on you to respond honestly and to do exactly what you say you will do. When people know that you regard in doing the right thing, and that your behavior is persistent with that belief, they will begin to trust you in you. Integrity also means doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do even when no one is looking. No matter the situation my integrity is never inconsistent, wrong or right, I remain truthful and with doing so, I have gained trust in an abundant amount of people I have encountered. In addition to having integrity, I am committed to service, for the past three summers I have volunteered at local summer camps, I have been apart of food drives, I have volunteered at homeless shelters to feed and entertain the less fortunate and I have donated countless clothing items and money to hospitals for children with illnesses. My family and I believe in helping others who have fallen into situations that we are lucky we are now in.
