Fahrenheit 451 Comparison What is your favorite book genre? If science fiction popped in your head, you may be interested in what i'm about to say. Science fiction is defined as “fiction based on imagine future scientific or technological advances and major social or environmental changes frequently portraying space or time travel and life on other planets”(science). In “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury, the setting takes place in an environment ran by technology, where books are illegal. In this society, “book burning” is a daily consequence performed to punish those secretly keeping books. It's exciting to watch the main character Montag, go on a journey to bring back books and change the way the citizens interact with each other. Each literature piece proves to be eye opening. By performing acts such as rebelling against the ban of books, the city transforms from a utopia to a dystopia rather quickly. In Fahrenheit 451, Montag breaks the law by owning a collection of books. After being caught, he attempts to break away from the city to be free. Montag’s friend orders Montag to “head for the river if you can, follow along it, and if you can hit the old railroad lines going out into the country, follow them”(132 Bradbury).
