Fahrenheit 451: How Is Entertainment Addictive?

Often the question is asked “ Is/how is entertainment addictive?” Entertainment such as tv, computer, cell phones, and even Mp 3 players can be highly addictive. Entertainment can become an escape from the world, even if it's just for an hour or two. People who struggle with life often become addicted to some form of entertainment, it's a way for them to block out everything and forget about the hard times for a while. Those who escape through entertainment become addicted due to the way it makes them feel, they enjoy the way it allows them to shut out the world and forget their responsibilities. I have personally watched a person be so addicted to entertainment he couldn't pause a video game for 2 minutes to be able to go to the restroom eventually leading to health issues. He often didn't want to leave the house or even go outside for some fresh air, entertainment completely consumed him. People addicted to drugs and alcohol often age quicker than most, they destroy brain cells, and can even die.For example In Fahrenheit 451 Montag's wife needs a way to escape life so she takes a whole bunch of sleeping pills which led to an over dosage, she was looking for an escape from life itself. Entertainment can do the same things although you won't age quicker from staring at a tv screen you can damage brain cells from looking at the light for extended periods of time. Medical issues isn't the only consequences of drugs, alcohol, and entertainment. People who become addicted often time lose friends and family, later losing the ability to function in the real world, they become consumed in their addiction.
