I read the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, and over the break I have watched the Fahrenheit 451 movie (1966). Last year I actually had a reading project based on Fahrenheit 451, but sadly all I knew about the book was the physical text itself. The thing that made me want to watch the movie of Fahrenheit 451 was because I wanted to see how the actors and the director of the movie saw the book in their perspective, instead of just my thoughts of the book. But after watching the movie it made me want to look back at the novel and think deeper to understand it more and to make differences and connections. What I noticed about the book and the movie was that they both used the same ingredients but the movie changed the original to make it more theatrical and entertaining. This change made the story in the movie different in ways for example; instead of Faber teaching Montag and helping him it is Clarisse who helps Montag. The book and the movie of Fahrenheit 451 have their differences but both have their strengths based on opinions and the way you view each of them. From my experience the movie has helped me as a reader engage more into the story and give me a better understanding of the book.
In Fahrenheit 451 it shows the symbolism through the desire for a more meaningful life. Listening to the criticism for Fahrenheit 451 it has changed the way I think about what keeps a society good versus bad. Even having a perfect society has its flaws, because a perfect society is like a lifeless utopia where everything has no meaning, but on the other hand even with a bad society it puts the thrill and the conflicts into the world which give the people something to thrive for; a perfect society. Although I don’t believe that it is possible to make the perfect world, I do think that we can aim for a perfect society which will
