And they lived Happily Ever After!... It sounds like I am starting at the end. But, isn't that where most of us would like to start? Not when we're reading a book of course, we want all the details of the story. However, when it comes to real life we usually want to skip right to our happily ever after. Some people however, never make it that far. Each year, 34,598 people die by suicide, an average of 94 completed suicides every day. More people die by suicide than by homicide which is only 18,361 a year in the United States.
Now every fairytale we have ever heard in our life dealt with some sort of real life element. Cinderella unveiled abuse and neglect, Snow White was bullied by the queen, and Sleeping Beauty dealt with the "curses" or ailments we face in our daily lives. Although all of these real life situations are hard to deal with, they are recognized in our society today . Suicide however, has it's many controversial points. There is no black and white. I believe that irrelevant to your belief on wether suicide is right or wrong. Prevention should be of our upmost priority. Most people are uncomfortable with the topic of suicide. Too often, victims are blamed and their families and friends are left stigmatized. As a result, people do not communicate openly about suicide. Thus, an important public health problem is left shrouded in secrecy, which limits the amount of information available to those working to prevent suicidal behavior.The good news is that research
