Living in a very diverse country where many female artists are receiving the recognition they deserved long time ago, during a time where the male sphere dominated the world of art. I will be discussing through the eyes of an American female artist, who took quilting as a craft into a significant part of art. The following artist I chose is Faith Ringgold. Not only did she take her art subjects seriously, but she also was an activist who sought equality for both racial and gender issues. She is best known for her innovative quilt narratives, children’s books, and current activism for women’s right and civil rights. Did it ever make you wonder how she became such an important female figure in the art and real world as an African-American woman?
