From a young age, my father instilled in me the ideals to never accept less than what I am capable of. Academically speaking, I have held to this core principle tightly. My father’s inspiration and determination to make me work hard and achieve my goals is the reason that I have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high-school and my undergraduate schooling, as well as scoring a 515 on the MCAT. In this manner I believe I hold true to the academic excellence envisioned by the Faithe Family Scholarship.

This is something that is truly lacking in modern medicine. Physicians have the knowledge to treat current disease, and make recommendation to combat future issues; however, they simple lack the resources or time to adequately instruct their patients in how to make and carry out the lifestyle changes that they constantly recommended. I personally strive to find a way in which to carry out these types of conversations and teaching moments with patients while still delivering excellent care. In addition to teaching patients, I wish to teach future medical students. I was once told that the greatest responsibility a physician has is to pass on the information that he learned throughout his life to the next generation. That statement is truly the most resounding and impactful thing I have ever heard. The more I think about it, the surer I am that I want to teach future medical students one day. To take the information I am taught, add to it years of my own personal experience, and deliver it to hundreds of future physicians. In this manner, I not only impacted the lives of those who were my patients, but also the lives of the patients my students had. The impact one great educator can have on the world is exponentially more than that of one personal alone. This idea has become the largest goal I have ever set for myself in terms of scope and importance and will hopefully permeate my personal and professional
