My story regarding how I became a Child Development and Family Studies major may be quite different from others. Helping others is my passion, so the profession I would pursue would involve helping people. From an extremely young age, I desired to work in the healthcare field. Ever since I was a sophomore in high school, I longed to become a nurse. This desire continued into my college years. I declared nursing as my major as a college freshman, but my journey to becoming a nurse was not as easy as I hoped. Unfortunately, my journey took a turn for the worst. I was told by my advisor that I would have to change majors or change schools due to my gpa. Making a choice between the two was difficult. On the topic of family studies, I agree with the author. Sometimes family may be all a person has. One can depend on a family member if they are incapable of depending on anyone else. For this reason, it is essential to be informed of the importance and meaning of family, and family studies symbolizes such. I believe it is critical to understand family studies. Not everyone is aware of what a family is simply because they may not have one. Studying the family can increase one’s desire to have a family after they learn its importance. Completing this action provides one with the knowledge to support and care for their families. Unfortunately, every individual is not equipped with this knowledge. For this reason, many individuals grow up in an unhealthy family or completely without one. In short, I agree with the statement that family is the most important aspect of people’s lives.
