Imagine a world without conflict. Where minor issues such as increasing gas prices and forgetting to lock the door to your house in the morning seized to exist. In a world with such circumstances, would you consider it to be perfect? Or perhaps the complete opposite? In the movie, Fantastic Mr. Fox and the book The Complete Maus, themes of parent/ child relationships are naturally more often shown between father and son in both stories- with the exception apart from Mr. Fox and his nephew Kristofferson, each relationship including their own individual conflicts. As both stories progress, the relationships and costs, both negative and positive, consequentially following cause the characters to experience a better sense of identity. In Fantastic Mr. Fox, a common conflict of the character Ash is often being seen and called as “different” compared to the other characters in the movie; Often is he compared to his father who had been known for his athletic abilities. It is often shown within The Complete Maus while the topic is on Vladeck and his medication. Without realization, Art seems to gradually gain realization each time he would quarrel with his father whilst carefully counting his medication. Art seems to start feeling sorry for his father after grasping the fact that his father was in critical condition. Consequently, he became aware of how he had treated his father and of his harsh attitude towards him. Empathy is also shown in Fantastic Mr. Fox with Mr. Fox and Ash.
