1. What does ‘Fair trade’ mean?
Fair trade is a Trade between companies in developed countries and producers in developing countries in which fair prices are paid to the producers.
2. Investigate various Fair Trade systems to help farmers and other producers in low income countries.
Fair trade is the only system that sets out to attack poverty and allow producers in developing countries. Other systems have their focus ‘protecting the environment’.
Explain why customers should be encouraged to purchase their products, how can they be encouraged to do so?
Customers should be refreshed to purchase their products as it helps to control the economy. If customers were not to purchase products then the economy is likely to crash. For example: Businesses will become bankrupt or be under severe debt. Customers can be encouraged to buy their products by advertising and telling them the benefits if they do buy the products.
3. Name two organisations who currently sell ‘Fair Trade Products. Visit their websites to find out their reasons for becoming fair trade.
Oxfam’s reason for becoming fair trade is to lift people out of poverty and Fair Trade Australia, New Zealand is another organisation that sells Fair Trade products their reasons for becoming Fair Trade is that it delivers a better deal for farmers and producers in the developing areas.
