Peyton Farquhar is the main character. He is a well to do 35 years old planter, which from highly distinguished Alabama family. As an early settler, Farquhar is a patriot, secessionist, slave owner and politician who devote his life to the Southern cause.

The supporting characters are Mrs. Farquhar, a captain, a sergeant and two private soldiers.

What is the back-story? Who is the main character where he is? Because the Confederate in the south, had a smaller Army that is why decided to organize guerrilla warfare against The Federal Army so, they organized civilians and farmers to act as hit-and-run behind enemy's lines furthermore, to disrupt supplies by blowing the bridges. The Federal Army arrested Farquhar in an attempt to destroy the bridge and sentenced him to death by hanging. The main character is Farquhar which is being prepared for execution on Owl Creek Bridge.
