When presented with a difficult situation in both the 1700s and 2004 you are given a choice on determining how the situation plays out or others just leave it to sheer luck. In our actions we make choices based on what we believe is write and hope that this choice resulted in a good outcome. Others leave the situation to fate. In both A Tale of Two Cities and Crash characters are left with the decision of leaving their outcome to choice and luck or just sheer luck.
The Iranian American man’s shop was ransacked and he feels that he is being discriminated upon due to his race. He thinks that his life here is full of people trying to cheat him. In the end, he chooses to solve his problem by leaving his fate in the hands of a revolver. He believed that shooting David is the solution to his problem of discrimination on him and his family. That little red box of free ammunition was a box of “ Westminster, .38 Special, Black Powder Blanks. Full Loads.” His luck was the daughter unwillingly choosing the wrong ammunition initially. When David’s daughter, Lara, jumped into his arms as he believed he was close to death, Farhad pulled the trigger threatening the life of an innocent 5 year old. If the ammunition was correct his fate would be killing the life of a small child. Fate gave Farhad a second chance to mend his life and
