Cursed by Fate The entertainment industry uses the idea of fate and destiny to portray characters as having an untouchable astronomical fate. It can influence those through social media in the form of horoscopes and auto generated personality traits. One’s external decisions truly dictate where they want to go and achieve in life, without being fear mongered by social media and religion. A destiny can inspire and destroy one's life if not acted upon appropriately. William Shakespeare uses this concept and ideology in playwrights such as Romeo and Juliet. The way both character’s families interact with each other is unstable as Denton J. Snider comments on the topic “love which is the emotional ground of the family is here destroying the family itself.” If it weren't for the rivalry and pride of each family Romeo and Juliet could still be alive. The love each family unit should be giving, is being redirected into a hate for their enemies. This hate causes Romeo and Juliet to make necessary assumptions about each other's families and therefore refuge these rules. Juliet disagrees with these rules and denounces all hate towards the Montagues “Without that title. Romeo doff thy name; And for thy name, which is no part of thee, take all myself” (Shakespeare 798). She disobeys her family by even having feelings toward Romeo.
