In the short story "Powder", it reflects a father and his son relationship even though the two have different views and way of thinking. The young boy is more conservative and the father is fearless, however the young boy still looks up to his father and respects his way of living. Wolff demonstrates the importance of a father and how he can influence his son's life and self-identity. In this father son relationship we see reflection of many modern day "broken home" situations, were the children have to live in the moment of both parents. As a child this could be very difficult and confusing, if the parenting skills are not the same. The father had to fight for the company of his son, due to the trust had been broken and the father was left
