There are many ways these texts have a similar theme. One is because they both give an example of a factor of fear. The fear or impatience in Boy’s Life was the teacher’s feeling towards letting her students go. She didn’t want them to leave. We know this because the main character notices these feelings through the teacher’s body language. The fear in Emancipation: A Life Fable, is the fear or hesitance that the animal felt when he saw that his cage door was left open. The animal was very fearful or skeptical about whether or not he should leave his cage.

The stories are also different in many ways as well. The biggest and most obvious difference between the two stories is the main character. The main character in Boy’s Life is a young boy.
