Hungry Children in the World
General Purpose: To persuade A. How many of you are worried about where your next meal will come from? Are you unsure of how you’re going to purchase next week’s groceries or what you will be feeding your children for dinner tonight? This probably isn’t something most of you think about from day to day. When you are hungry, you eat. It’s easy for you to grab a sandwich, order a pizza, or run through the drive thru when you are on the go. However, there are many families, not just in other countries, but here in the United States as well, that are going hungry every day. You can sign up online and pick the day and time slots that work best for you. You may think that one person like you can’t make a difference, but JUST .22 CENTS provides the money required to produce one meal. That’s basically a quarter which means if you even donated $1 you are providing a little more than a day’s worth of meals to one child.
(Transition Statement: Now that we have discussed how little it costs to help feed children and how easy it is to get involved, let’s talk about why it is so important.
IV. VISUALIZING THE RESULTS A. I have told you how getting involved in FMSC or even donating a miniscule amount of money can help children all over the world, but I’m sure some of you are thinking, “why should I help this organization when it doesn’t affect me”? However, I would like to tell you something shocking, at least one person in this class grew up in a family that had a hard time buying food, your neighbor may go to the food pantry every weekend to get their week’s supply of groceries, and one day you may not know how you are going to feed your children. If you were in that situation, you would be extremely grateful to have all the help you could get, especially from organizations like FMSC. 1.
