“Of the 1.8 Million women veterans in the United States, more than 450,000 have enrolled for Healthcare services through the Veterans Administration”, (Patricia Hayes, 2012) says Patricia Hayes. It has become a top priority to enhance primary care for women veterans since the number of women veterans has been rising, making them more dependent on the Veterans Administration for their healthcare. The 450,000 is expected to grow by 30 percent in the next five years. (Greenhaven Press) A solution specific for female Veterans would be to develop Female Veterans only, all inclusive programs that are geared towards women. “In order to achieve the providing of comprehensive primary care, the veterans’ administration has implemented and designed three models to encourage optimal primary care.”(Patrica Hayes, 2012) The first model promotes, “women veterans to be seen within a gender-neutral primary care clinic”.( Patrica Hayes, 2012) For the second model, “Women are seen in a separate but shared space within the primary clinic”. (Patrica Hayes, 2012) Finally, the third model promotes, “women veterans to be seen in a separate space with a separate entrance to ensure privacy.” (Patrica Hayes, 2012) Being gender specific will contribute to easier access and shorter wait times, creating an overall better environment for the female veterans, improving the quality of …show more content…
More must be done in order to maximize the Veterans Administration’s full potential on making the healthcare more reliable, convenient, and secure for women veterans. Although there show to be a number of problems with in the Veterans Administration, there is an equal amount of solutions that can be offered to make these situations better. Such as, funds being set up to contribute to continuing the goal of delivering quality healthcare for women veterans. With these potential advancements and solutions in the Veterans Administration Clinics for our Women Veterans, there will be a more positive outcome with in all Veteran Administration clinics and how the women are cared
