Women in the modern day have evolved significantly since the 19th century. The rights between men and women have become more equalized than ever before. Many times, in regard to jobs, a man is chosen over a woman in a particular field. The assumed role of the woman as the caregiver has ceased to be the only acceptable role in some parts of the world and in some cultures, although it persists in other areas. The generalizations have many more exceptions in today's world. Of course, old stereotypes still exist as there is still many women still staying home, care for their children, clean and cook, but there is also a significantly number of many woman in the 21st century that have evolved by working the same jobs as men, with larger incomes than in the past. With today's economics family burdens, most families need two paychecks to make ends meet (Hobbes and Rice, 228). Other examples of evolutionary changes between the 19th century and society today, is the uprising in female governmental staff. Many of these jobs are including females running for prime minister and presidential roles. For example, In Canada, men and women occupy the same careers, but unfair treatment is still maintained. Men in many jobs, still are rewarded with a larger salary than women for working the exact same jobs. Though many women have entered politics and possess governmental careers, there has yet to be a female prime minister. This is because many people do not believe that women are suitable to take on the leadership role of the Canadian government. Other examples include that men are not expected to spend excessive amounts of money on grooming, style, and appearance to fit in (Hobbes and Rice, 390).
