I believe fiction is a fundamental part to each of our lives. Some of the core values that I feel are important in my life are from works of fiction. Reading fiction teaches us empathy and how to recognize others emotions. One common element that is in most of the books I read; a protagonist working through a problem. As I get farther into a book I get more invested in the story and the characters. There life becomes mine, I relate to them, and study their response and reactions to problems. After reading about a teenager that’s spending there whole life in the hospital for something there not responsible for or a kid getting bullied for their differences, I feel empathy.
