Field of Dreams is a sports/ drama movie that hit theaters in the summer of 1989. With a rating of 7.6 out of 10, this film is a classic. It takes place in the small town of Dyersville, Iowa in the 1980’s. The film was directed by Phil Alden Robinson and stars Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones, and Ray Liotta. (character) Ray Kinsella is a small time farmer in a small town in Iowa with a fear of never doing anything exciting. He was your average guy with a wife and a daughter living an average life until one day. Ray ,and no one else, started hearing voices “If you build it he will come.” So Ray started building a baseball diamond so that Shoe-less Joe Jackson could come and play. Shoe-less Joe Jackson and eight other players had been kicked out of the majors for throwing the world serious. Leaving them to never play the game they loved ever again. Kevin Costner plays Ray Kinsella a loving father who is faced with huge life changing decisions. Throughout the film he is constantly supported by his corny loving wife played by Amy Madigan. The energy that Amy Madigan brings to her character gives the movie a carefree, humorous feel. The intensity and seriousness that James Earl Jones character Terence brings gives the movie that heartfelt mood along with showing the struggle these characters were faced with. All of these different personalities come together to make the movie the classic that it is.
The customs in the movie were done by Linda Bass. Linda Bass did a great job dressing the characters in 80’s style clothing. She helped keep the feel for the time era. Making you feel as if you were in the 80’s.
