“Fight” By: Laurel Blossom and "Communication"
What the poet is trying to say in the poem is that she and her boyfriend aren’t compatible. She says in the beginning “Between me and you.” This states that she is talking to another person. She also says “That’s not what I do.” She is saying this because she is in a disagreement with the other person. She says "You want to get married, I want to be free." This states that she isn't ready for full commitment and they need to have better communication.
In my opinion you should live with someone before marriage. Couples start knowing each other on a closer, more personal level when they live together. In relationship like in “fight” you should really just sit down and talk about what your problems are. In “fight” she talks about two people, herself and her boyfriend. He most likely wants to get married and she isn’t ready yet and wants to wait a little longer.
What the poet is trying to say in "Communication" is that everyone needs to have equal say in everything especially in a relationship. She says "Communication is not a one way street, it takes two, to concur this feat." The poem is great because it goes well with everyday life and relationships too. Both poems show that relationships take time and communication.
Communication is one of the major problems that affect couples. It is hard to listen to the other person when you think you are right. Couples seem to blame, criticize, and give the silent treatment among other things. Next, couples cope with these conflicts in many different ways. One may finally give over to the other person. They can compromise, witch is the best method. They may agree to disagree or just stop talking about the issue. Denying conflict can ruin a relationship. These are not affective ways of fighting. There are ways to improve your communication skills. In conclusion, communication is one of the main problems that a couple has. Couples deal with it in many different ways, and most prove ineffective.
Both poems have some rhyme and they both have something to do with relationship issues. They are both in perfect rhyme, and are in a free verse kind of way. “Fight” and “Communication” both have metaphors. Both poems show great imagery. In “fight” imagery is seen when she says “I put the top down.” This shows that they are in a nice place. In “communication” she says “it’s not just a one way street.” This shows that it takes two people.
The Importance of Communication is to ensure that everything is understood and can be acted upon. Without good communication, others cannot help each other in the relationship. Another reason communication is important is because you leave others out of the loop and they won’t know what is going on. Communication as defined in the Dictionary is the exchange of thoughts, expressions, and or information. Communication among couples is essential to an efficient and effective relationship.
A relationship between two people can have very different meanings. In some relationships such as two lovers, they can also be best friends because they share good communication. A relationship between a parent and child has a special bond because they share love, and affection for each other. However, there are times when a relationship can go bad because there is no understanding, lack of communication, and a feeling of distance in the relationship.
A relationship within a family has characteristics of respect, love and trust. Family relationships mold you into the person that you are today. You have the opportunity to support your family members and make sacrifices to help others in times of need.
