Feeling remorse is like waiting for leaves to fall. Trying to hold a grudge turns into caving them back in , yet it makes people want it to come to an end. In the story, The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe,an unnamed protagonist tries to be vengeful to an old man because of his haunting eye.He goes crazy because of disturbing the eye is to him. Also by Poe, The Raven is about how a lonely man his feeling sorrowness for the lost of his wife,Lenore while a raven comes and to saying “Nevermore”. Poe establishes a suspenseful mood through his effect of using figurative language. Suspense is the effect of building up because of the mood being dark and dreary. The protagonist is sensing a sound surrounding him, but after all he found out that it just not within himself. He has been wanting to distract himself to get out of its way,but the sound pulls him within. The figurative language used is personification because of the way it is inferred to as ringing is the description of the motion of the heart. A heart is an organ that does not give off a tone as high to ring, but instead show the frequency of how he hears the beating. The author is using personification to mood to show that a description of object to a living action can create an anxious feeling that is felt through the reader. The reader can feel this mood, because through the use of the protagonist’s words and tone.
