A Climb Above the Rest

Thomas was in his seat at the movie theaters. A child was crying, somebody was answer-ing a call, and people were standing up. Everything seemed typical at the theatre. Dysfunction before the start of a new movie. Thomas usually didn’t watch movies at the theatre. He was old and retired and did not receive a lot of retirement money. He usually waited to watch movies until they were on Netflix. However, the movie Everest made an exception as he always had an interest in climbing mountains but had never had the chance to actually do it. The movie suddenly started and Thomas loved it, from the beginning to the end. The movie depicted the scenes on the mountain with great detail. The movie showed how intricate the art

Charlie lays out a three step plan to climb Everest. First, to train with gym activities, then with outdoor activities to simulate the climbing environment, and lastly to learn about the climb-ing equipment. Since, it takes at least three months for an amateur to be ready to climb a high altitude mountain, Charlie and Thomas agree to start training as soon as possible in unison. For the first few weeks, Thomas and Charlie began to focus solely on building up cardio. They run tens of miles every week. Thomas feels sore after every day, but never complains be-cause he knows this pain will eventually pay off in the future. One day, Thomas breaks his wrist but never stops training due to his competitiveness. After a few weeks of just practicing cardio, Thomas feels in the best shape of his life. The next few weeks, the two concentrate on building strength. They weight lift with various parts of their body including their arms, legs, and chest so they could be physically strong on the mountain. As Charlie and Thomas finish out the first part of the training plan, they feel physically fit enough to conquer any
