Film Analysis: The Fisher King

After watching the movie “The Fisher King” and talking about the 6 parts of an epiphany I have really began to think about my life and what I have been through. The main character Jack has many problems throughout the film. By the end of the movie I have come to the realization that we all go through these 6 parts and they all shape us in different ways.
If you walk through the hallways of my school, you will see many different faces. Some see black, some see brown, while others may see white. But if you really want to know a person, you have to look into their eyes. The red dragon finds Perry at his darkest times, and won’t leave him be. Constantly haunting him with his pain. Perry lost his wife when he was younger. They were at a bar having a great time talking and bonding. You could sense the unbreakable bond between them, kind of like me and my father. All of a sudden, a man walked in unnoticed by a single soul with the intentions of death on his mind. Suddenly he began to open fire on the helpless people, taking lives that were not meant to be taken that day, and destroying others. I compare myself to Perry in many different ways, but one big one is how he has these tiny breakdowns almost everyday. Perry has pain flowing through his veins and a heart made out of stone. The only way he can function in his daily life, is to mask all his pain by acting like someone he isn’t. I wish I could do the same as Perry and just block all of the pain but it isn’t as easy as it sounds. Then again, maybe that isn’t as freeing as it seems.
