Watching the Documentary A Film Unfinished it made everything I ever knew about the Holocaust come to life. I had never watched a film on the Holocaust nor did I know such films were produced by the Germans. My first reaction to the film was disgusted and confused as to why the Germans would deliberately incriminate themselves. Perhaps since they never got around to the editing and finalizing stages they weren’t able to cover their tracks. I think the film only further proves the remorselessness of the Germans and how far they went to attempt to convince others that the Jews were the problem. I think giving those “actors” a taste of how human life should be like and then going back to their cruel reality after filming must have been double the torture. On the other hand it was also hard watching the reality of the Holocaust and seeing heartbreaking images of dead corpus, starving Jews, and their overall living conditions. Although I had read about the atrocities that occurred at the camps I could never really come up with a mental image of what some of those things may look like. Now those images from the film showing how badly Jews suffered are ingrained in my head. One of the most impactful scenes that made me wish I had not seen the film was the scene when they are sliding down dead bodies on to a pile. Although the images were graphic and at times I wish I had not watched it, I think it helps me and others be more appreciative of our lives and aware of the seriousness behind the holocaust. I say the seriousness behind the Holocaust because I know there are still many people out there that don’t think the Holocaust actually happened or that it was as severe as they report it to
