Student Survival Guide My name is Janene Mackey and this is my survival guide that I will use over the next several courses. This will be a big help for me as I continue on with all of my courses I will start with general Internet skills, I have found that I really need to learn more about this, but what I do know it has been a big help me to do my online classes. If I had not known what I did know I wouldn’t be able to do my online classes. I have be able to do research papers through the general Internet, I do have to be careful that I make sure that I have a creditable source and by doing that I need to make sure that it has gov, edu, mil. There is a few other sites that might be trust worthy. As I do my other classes I will want to make sure I use those only and University of Phoenix library as well. I also have to make sure I watch my tone at all times. I also what to make sure I’m communicating with different audiences as well with the tone I use in my writing. Never use bold or capitalize other than when starting a sentence, because it might look like I’m yelling at them. University of Phoenix has all kind of technological tools that can be used by me as I might need. I have tech support to help me if I have any troubles of any kind that can help me out if need be. I have my advisor and finical team to help me if I need it. Then there the Library that has all kinds of tools for me to use there. I can go to the library to do my research papers and get the proper research and I will know that it a creditable source and trust worthy. While I’m in the library I can go to the Center for Writing Excellence and the Center for Mathematics Excellence in these two areas I can turn in my paper to be grade and if I have trouble with math this is where I can go for help. I can get help in both of the Centers. I can also take workshops through there as well to help me with my math and writing. When I started at University of Phoenix I didn’t know how to do APA formatting and by take the workshop for it I could learn how. This will help me all through my courses, because now I know how to do the APA formatting the right way. I have learned how it is very important to be honest about my own work and not to cheat. If I were to somehow do plagiarism, I would fail the class and probably have to leave University of Phoenix, plus it will go on my school records so always be honest. I have learned to have my papers checked for plagiarism through the library as well. This will keep all my papers true to my words and not someone else’s words. If I cite someone else work I need to cite it properly and University of Phoenix has a reference and cite generator to help me cite it properly. I will use both many times throughout my schooling so that I don’t make that mistake and lose everything. I will always remember to never take someone else’s work without citing it properly. I will go back and look at my timeline where I have my long and short term goals set. I will set some more short terms goals throughout my different course. I think that every course will need its own goals to be set for me so that I can accomplish them on time. If I run into obstacles I will figure out what I will need to do at that time. If my computer goes down I will either get a new or have mine fixed or
