1) For our mini-business, we would need information about our customers. We would need to start with internal information. We would need to gather information about needs, wants, perception of price, and satisfaction with products or services. For our business, we would need to keep some records of internal information such as customer records and sales information, production and operations report, and performance information.
Customer records and sales information: Since our business is hosted in our high school, we would need demographic information such as
Sales information would include how much of each product is being bought from the students. For example, if our donuts are being sold more than our waffles, we would probably order more donuts.
Production and operations report: We would need to keep up with how much of a certain item we have left and need to order to keep up with our consumers’ wants/needs. Using the records from the customer records and sales information, we can use that in our operations report to make our business more efficient.
Performance information: In order to gain profits, our performance needs to be in par with sales, costs, quality, and customer satisfaction. If we disregard this information, we can start to lose money.
2) The availability of sources needs to be important for each type of information because we want to get accurate information.
Customer records and sales information: For customer records, we can probably ask some people to take a 10 sec survey. This would gather some demographic information for us. We would need to physically see how much each of our items is being sold to gather sales information.
