While attending the Jazz field trip and participating in the fire simulation, it has opened my eyes to what can happen on board an aircraft, and how stressful an emergency situation is. While at the training centre I got to participate first hand at how to correctly extinguish a fire while on board an aircraft. Learning about the different techniques and equipment during, class made me feel confident when it came to displaying my knowledge and abilities at Jazz.

Identify and describe specifically how you operated the Fire Extinguisher

After noticing the fire the first thing I did was call for back up, I did this by pushing the call button to gain the attention of another flight attendant. Secondly I got into my protective stance to fight the fire. I used the P.A.S.S method to extinguish the fire, I then pulled the pin in, and by doing this it allowed me to operate the extinguisher. After pulling the pin I then put on my Kevlar gloves, they are to protect my hands from the fire. After putting on the gloves I then aimed at the base of the fire while squeezing and sweeping, this allowed the water to cover the entire area. After the fire was out I continued to monitor it and I never turned my back on the fire.

The reason I believe I was so successful was from learning about fire extinguishers in class. This gave me a deeper understanding on how to operate an extinguisher and knock down a
