Flashback are just the act of remembering what happened in the past. Often time, many authors use flashbacks in their work. It’s a good thing. In doing this, characters are more developed and the reader better understands what’s going on. Flashbacks can definitely aid in character development. An example of this could be found in James Patterson’s “Maximum Ride”. It’s a very popular book series. It’s loaded with flashbacks. The title character, Max, is the narrator. Throughout the writing, she makes it very obvious that she trusts very few people. One would wonder why she is like that though. Well, with her constantly having flashbacks of how people betrayed her and family, it becomes very clear as to why she doesn’t trust easily.
