The Treaty of Versailles was a document that was created in 1919 at the Paris Peace Conference. The treaty marked the official end of World War One, but also officially placed the blame of who started the war on Germany. The treaty placed many penalties and demanded reparations from Germany as well, which left the Germans in a tough spot and left them feeling bitter.There were many flaws in the Treaty of Versailles, one of which determined the primary reasons that World War Two happened. The Treaty of Versailles should have been modified its articles on the League of Nations, German territory and the reparations placed on Germany, in order to create a lasting peace in Europe. The articles in the treaty made Germany a lot smaller by breaking it up into many countries and also took away all of Germany’s colonies. The loss of Germany’s colonies would have also angered them because the Allies were taking away something that they used manpower and resources to set up. To make things worse, Germany had “to concede several territories in Europe and give up all its overseas colonies to the Allied Powers”(Wolf). The loss of their colonies, and a major source of income, to the people that they just lost the war to would cause them to hold resentment towards all of the Allied powers. This should have been changed to allow Germany to keep some of their colonies and split Germany or allowed for Germany to remain as one whole country but take away their colonies. One of the larger issues in the Treaty of Versailles was to force Germany to pay large sums of money to Allied nations for war damages that happened. These damages ranged from property damages to taxes and fines on people that were under their rule. The amount of money was a ridiculous amount and with the state of Germany’s economy, they did not have enough money to pay for all the damages. Also, “when Germany refused reparation payments, Premier Raymond Poincaré sent French troops, supported by observers from Belgium and Italy, into the industrial heart of Germany, the Ruhr”(Capet). Other parts of the treaty ripped away resources and manpower that they would need to get their economy back up to a good standard. The treaty should have been modified to have all countries involved against the Allies in the war, pay money to help pay off all of the property damages and health bills that they caused. By having all of these countries foot the bill it would allow for them to rebuild their economies faster which would lead to debts being paid off a lot
