The Flo Bots concert that I attended was absolutely incredible and I think that as musicians there overall stage presence and ability to engage the audience and convey a striking message truly impressed me. The overall feel I got at the beginning of the night was stimulated by the exited college students gathering by the front of the stage. The show started when the opening act first started with the group traveling with the Flo Bots, Opening the show; 2MX2. Despite the fact that their raps were almost entirely in Spanish in no time they had the crowd sheering “Si Se Puede” in response to a question they asked in midway in response to the chorus. This haunting sound is met with the words of Jamie Laurie which were rapped in a definite modulated tone and almost had a robotic sound. Last but certainly not least the most well-known song of the FloBots “Handlebars” was delivered in a unique way. The beginning of the song has a monophonic texture with a lone electronic guitar that sets the general dissonant feel of the song. The bridge crescendos into the chorus which is sung and then the verses following were once again rapped.
