Introduction Professional competency standard is one of the main graduate attributes for newly qualified nurses and other trained nurses. It simply means the way of application of all aspects of nursing studies into the work field on the basis of regulatory body’s standards. This essay will go to examine the work of Florence Nightingale, as a nurse and a legend who lived in the 19th century. And also, critically analyse which are the ways her work is connected to the today’s Australian competency standards for the Registered nurses. Simultaneously, evaluate against the code of ethics of today’s nursing practice.

This situation is getting more threatened, when there was a lack of supply of essential supplies, poor diet, poor hygiene as well as the lack of organisation and training in the care setting.(Wakely, Elizabeth , Carson ,Jerome 2011).As soon as ,she knew the reality, she thinks about the remedies to overcome this situation. She ordered medicines, bandages, food, clothing, blankets, utensils and other necessary things for her patients. She took initiative to make a sufficient kitchen and prepare meals for her patients. Due to the inadequate supply of many ordered things, conflicts were common in the workplace and it's made enemies for her. Here Florence Nightingale recognises that people normally prone to disease due to the result of preventable human mistakes and it negative effects in a care setting.
