Invasive species are animals from different countries that are not native to Florida. Humans relocated these invasive species to Florida. An invasive species can be anything ranging to animals to fungus. People are trying to get rid of various types of invasive species because they are a danger to environment. There are many types of invasive species in Florida. Fifty million dollars is spent annually to eradicate lakes, ponds, pastures, and fields to help our ecosystem get better.

The Lionfish is a Florida invasive species and was introduced from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. The lionfish was introduced to Florida's water about thirty years ago. The Lionfish have a negative effect on marine species native to the coastal waters of Florida. They eat native fish which affects the overall Florida reef habitat. Lionfish also compete for food with a native predator fish such as a grouper, and a snapper. Recreational and commercial divers are encouraged to harvest/remove the lionfish.

The Tegus is an exotic lizard. It is native to South American countries such as Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. The Tegu steals Alligator eggs from alligator nests which endangers the Florida alligator population. (WGCU News). The Tegus threatens other Florida's wildlife as well.
