The strength of TQM
Maximize customers’ satisfaction (Slack et al.,2007)
TQM theory obviously aimed at maximizing customers’ satisfaction since it normally emphasizes on “the error free” (Slack et al.,2007,p.766) concept which would encourage everyone in the company to identify quality as the priority for all tasks, regardless of their complexity. Apparently, Loake has been recognized as the high end quality of handmade shoemaker, the current target consumers of Loake would be mainly focused on upscale consumers who are willing to pay costly price for the superb quality shoes (Loake shoemakers,2011). Thus, TQM could provide its employees the same direction of delivering the best quality and reinforcing this particular group of consumers’ satisfaction.
Promote internal communication among employees (Slack et al.,2007)
Typically, due to the magnificent and immaculate quality concern, a pair of Loake shoe could take up to eight weeks to be finished and thus sometimes requires the involvement from over 200 operations between each department (Loake shoemakers,2011). This means that the quality of each shoe and all company’s profit margin would be directly affected by its internal employees’ performance. Hence, the concept of TQM which usually encourages the interaction and relationship between the internal sections would be able to promote work participation, especially the bottom line operation, and also create more joyful workplace environment (Slack et al.,2007).
