Landing on the forefoot is a practical solution for injury prevention during running; studies show forefoot running causes less negative impact on ligaments, invigorates muscle, and provides facile respiration control. Some think that running with a shoe, shod running, has a less negative impact on ligaments however barefoot running forces the foot to land naturally on the forefoot. Our bodies have been made to adapt to the earth’s natural surface and for thousands of years, we have had ancestors that didn’t use shoes as well as some tribes today. Barefoot running will also keep cash in your wallet by spending less on shoes. So if barefoot running is a better option, why isn’t every runner doing it?
